Made from jute plant fibres
Jute is grown in rice paddies as a rotation crop that improves the soil. The stems are cut close to the ground then soaked so the softened fibres in the bark can be separated, washed, dried and tied in bundles. Jute is an ideal natural basic material for weaving into bags and other products that need to be sturdy. Jute bags feel natural and are totally biodegradable. When the well-used bags (eventually) wear out they can simply be put in the textile container or recycling bin.
